Scientific Information and Librarianship offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of information. The courses allow development of specialist knowledge in areas of information and library work.

Course Content
Core subjects: Introduction to Books, Library and Scientific Information, Auxiliary Sciences of Librarianship and Scientific Information, History of Books and Libraries, Publishing, Librarianship – Collection and Replenishment of Books, Library Organisation and Management, Marketing in Libraries, Library Construction and Furnishing, Protection of Library Collections, Methodology of Bibliography and Bibliographic Studies, Reading Habits. The 1st cycle students can choose one of the above mentioned specializations.

Scientific Information and Librarianship have been accredited by the University Accreditation Commission: for high level of competence.
ECTS
The ECTS system of credits is established in Scientific Information and Librarianship as a proper means of promoting the most widespread student mobility.
Teaching and Assessment
Teaching is a combination of lectures and seminars. Students are assessed by examinations and individual projects. After the 1st and 2nd year of studies, students undergo professional training at libraries or centres of scientific information. Graduates receive Master’s Degrees in the field of Scientific Information & Librarianship.

The knowledge and skills that students acquire are applicable to careers in a wide range of information environments and organisational contexts. Our graduates have careers in libraries, at centres of information and scientific-research documentation, bookshops and publishing houses.
