This certificate program is designed to provide professional training for students in careers as technicians in fire protection and safety agencies. Careers include opportunities in municipal, state and federal agencies, as well as insurance companies and industries. This program is designed to meet the needs of potential and in service firefighters by providing practical and technical instruction to those who will be serving the greater Pioneer and Connecticut Valley communities.

The certificate program in fire science technology prepares graduates for the occupation of firefighter or for work in related fields such as fire insurance, safety engineering, or fire equipment sales. Fire Science
Students are educated and trained in the technical fields relating to fire and safety practices. This program also provides partial lower-division preparation for the baccalaureate degree in this field. This certificate will pre-pare students for entry to a fire academy and for an
entry-level position in private and public fire-related occupations. This Associate Degree will prepare students for entry to a fire academy and for career advancement for those already employed in a fire-related industry.

Fire Service Management & Administration Certificate of
Bakersfield College's Regional fire Technology Program is authorized by the California Fire Service Training and Education System. Programs of study lead to certificates in Fire Technology with specialization in hazardous materials, wildland fire control, and rescue and life safety. Certifications include Fire Officer, Chief Officer, Driver/Operator, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Volunteer Firefighter. Certificates meet the National Fire Protection Association professional qualification standards.
Fire Science Program
This program is designed to prepare individuals for a career in fire fighting. Included in this curriculum is completion of the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council Fire Fighter I and Fire Fighter II courses. In addition, students will complete comprehensive coursework in fire safety, investigation and inspection, fire command and administration, hazardous materials, and fire hydraulics. The overriding emphasis of this program is fire fighter safety and customer service.
