Financial Aid
Meeting the costs of an undergraduate education is a major investment for many families. It requires planning, careful decision making, and a commitment from you and your family. Skagit Valley College is an affordable alternative to four-year colleges, universities, and trade/vocational schools because we are one of 33 community and technical colleges in the Washington state system of higher education. When you compare our tuition and fees with those from other high priced schools, you will see that starting your education at Skagit Valley College definitely makes sense.
To be eligible for financial aid you must . . .
Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen
Be registered with the Selective Service (if required)
Be enrolled in a program of study and are enrolled in classes that lead to
a degree or certificate offered by SVC that is at least one year in length.
Have a high school diploma, GED certificate or demonstrate (through official testing)
an ability to benefit.
Demonstrate financial need
Maintain satisfactory academic progress
Not be in default on any student loan or owe a repayment on any grant received at
any institute of higher education.
The information that you report on your FAFSA is used to determine your Expected Family Contribution. When your file is complete, the SVC Financial Aid Office will evaluate your application and notify you of your eligibility.
Your financial aid need is determined using the following formula:
Cost of Attendance - Expected Family Contribution = Financial Need
