The College of Natural Sciences was established to promote basic sciences, develop new technologies and apply principles of basic science research to everyday life. The college houses two schools, School of Natural Sciences and School of Human Ecology. The School of Natural Science aims to inspire and educate students to lead the country s scientific and technological progress in diverse professions. In order to fulfill the vision, the college offers a variety of courses in basic theories and laboratory experiments. In addition, it also provides the necessary nterdisciplinary education and research opportunities to develop creative solutions to the problems faced in the fields of ecology, information science, and genetics. As a part of the school s efforts to contribute to community evelopment, the school has been taking a full responsibility of the nationally renowned Incheon Science Elite Program since its inception. The School of Human Ecology strives for excellence in education and research which contributes to upgraded micro-and macroecological environments and ultimately increase the quality of life in society. For such vision, the college actively engages in carrying out research related to the well-being of an individual and family and developing ways to link research activities to the community. The students are encouraged to pursue an interdisciplinary approach to obtain integrative as well as specialized skills. The school has been chosen as an operator of Healthy Family Support Center in Incheon Metropolitan City.

The B.S. degree program in general science provides a broad background in the natural sciences. The program allows specialization in at least two disciplines within the natural sciences as well as an additional area of associated interest. This degree offers more breadth in the natural sciences than other degree programs and may be classified as an interdisciplinary degree.
The program leading to the B.S. degree with a major in Natural Science is designed to prepare students for admission to professional schools–chiropractic, dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, pharmacy, and podiatry. Another separate track prepares students for further study in engineering.
The B.S. degree with a major in Natural Science will be earned by students who transfer to professional schools which have an articulation agreement with IUP. In some cases, students interested in obtaining a four-year baccalaureate degree before entering a medical or professional school should enroll in a program leading to a B.A. or B.S. degree in the departments of Biology
The need for well-trained science teachers is growing in California and many other states. The major in natural sciences is designed specifically to help students get the broad-based training they need to enter the education field. But majors will find their options expanded, not limited by this program: knowledge of many different areas of science can lead to a rewarding career in many different professions. Drawing from the latest research in biology, geology, chemistry and physics, students will learn to appreciate the way these sciences integrate to help explain phenomena of the natural world.

The Natural Science major and the Natural Science Broad-Field minor are interdisciplinary programs offered in cooperation with all the science departments. Three distinct emphases are available for the major: Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. A Natural Science major consists of fifty-four credits, including a minor in the area chosen for emphasis. A Natural Science Broad-Field minor consists of twenty-five credits, with at least five credits taken from each of the three emphasis areas mentioned above.
