B.Sc in Biological Sciences at University of Lethbridge

Biological Sciences is the study of the nature of life. Learning about life leads biologists out into the world, where they study how organisms interact with their physical environment. It leads them into laboratories, where they examine how organisms function. It leads them to examine cells, the basic building blocks of life, and the molecular processes that occur within them. Finally, it leads them back in time, where they can trace the evolution of the life forms that are present on the earth today.

About the Biological Sciences Program

The field of biology is both immense and diverse. Today’s biologists require a strong background in cellular and molecular biology, organismal biology, genetics, evolution and ecology. Students are introduced to each of these areas during their studies at the University. All biology majors are also required to complete courses in the cognate disciplines – chemistry, physics and mathematics – to provide them with a broad background in the sciences.
